Advices to Brides from India seeking matrimony to those living in the U.S.A. in matrimony
updated on Sept 27 2016
From: Sashti Srinivasan, Founder
In this newsletter, I want to give an advice or two to brides from India, Singapore, Middle East and Other countries, seeking to come over to the U.S. in matrimony! and/or to Other countries abroad!
U.S. economy has been doing extremely well, with unemployment rate well below 5%. Green Card sponsorship from employers is very hard to come by! Applications for H1B visas are at a all time high. There are at least 250,000 H1B applicants against a quota of 70,000 H1B visas awarded/allocated each year in April through a lottery system selection process by USCIS. H1B quotas are very quickly getting filled-up soon after the deadline closes on April 1 of each year! So only one out of 3 applicants are bagging the highly "coveted" H1B visa, with the other 2 being forced to seek out their chances next year, or to return home, upon expiration of their OPT term. More and more U.S. college graduates who are in the U.S. on (F1) Student Visas are bagging prized job offers starting with a minimum salary of $100 K in California Silicon Valley and on the East Coast in the Tri-State area of NY-NJ-CT, Greater Boston Area, DC/Maryland/VA. -
U.S. has been the choicest destination with 97% of brides in India, (Singapore and Middle East) in our database, seeking to come over abroad in matrimony! Brides from Singapore and the Middle East, do not want to seek out alliances of boys from India and are looking to Indian boys in Western countries, predominantly from the U.S., in matrimony. This, despite the most stringent visa "hurdles" to cross and barriers to overcome, to enter the U.S.
Early in 2014, an opinion poll was conducted, in which they selected 95 countries from around the world and asked a sampling of 1,000 people in each country among men and women between the ages 21 and 65, from all walks of life, that "if given a choice and a chance to migrate abroad, which country in the world that they would choose to go?", and 97% of the people polled from around the world in those 95 countries, said, if given a choice and chance, they would migrate to the United States. So our percentile of brides from India and other countries, in our database, seeking to come over to the U.S. in matrimony, does closely resemble the opinion poll of people polled in 95 countries from around the world!
There are hundreds of thousands of brides from India, seeking to come abroad in matrimony, particularly to the U..S. and Canada. If ever some one told you that there "ain’t" no brides available from India seeking to come abroad in matrimony, wake up and "smell the coffee" - our web portal, contains over several hundreds of them, moderately qualified, well qualified, distinguished in their fields, brides who have spent over 6-8 years in the U.S. who have gone back to India, under difficult visa conditions, seeking to return to the U.S. in matrimony - in the age groups ranging from 23 48, short, tall, charming and beautiful, petite, slim and bubbly, wheatish, uniquely qualified and exceptionally talented! Hindus, in so many sub-sects - including those Previously Married, Separated, in all kinds and flavors! And more and more well-informed brides are reaching out to our Initiative! Everyday!
Most of you Brides, seeking a prospect in matrimony, wanting to come over to the U.S., are going to run into lots and lots of bridegrooms who are on H1B visa status here in the U.S.A. And the good news is that you can now get married to "certain eligible" bridegrooms on H1B visa and come here to the U.S. in matrimony and seek gainful employment legally, and "NOT HAVE TO SIT ON THE BENCH AT HOME!" In May 2015, USCIS issued a notification authorizing "certain eligible" workers who are on a H1B Status in the United States, whose spouses are on H4, can seek gainful employment and work in the U.S., legally. Eligible H-4 dependent spouses of H-1B non-immigrant workers who can seek gainful employment are those who:
(a) are the principal beneficiaries of an approved Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker with an H1B transitioning into a Green Card. In other words, the H1B worker must have submitted Form I-140 which has been approved (meaning he is in a status, transitioning from a H1B into a Green Card); or,
(b) those on H1B and who have been granted extended, indefinite stay beyond the 6 year maximum period (two terms of 3 years each under H1B), under sections 106 (a) and (b) of the American Competitiveness in the Twenty-first Century Act of 2000, transitioning from H1B ~ Green Card are also eligible to apply to work legally in the U.S.
So a bride from India (Singapore or Middle East) getting married to one of the above two eligible prospects (meaning, under H1B transitioning into Green Card), and having necessary technical (advanced) qualifications, would be eligible to seek work legally in the U.S., upon her arrival here. She will probably still come to the U.S. from India under a H4 status, after her marriage, and will have to apply for a H1B status (to work legally), as do all other spouses living in the U.S., once in the U.S., with all necessary documentation, such as employment offer, and other pertinent papers. She thus gets the H1B visa by virtue of her marriage to the above two (2) categories of H1B-GC visa holders, can live and work in the U.S., until she and her husband gets a Green Card - NOT ONLY THAT, they both can relocate in matrimony, to other locations within the U.S. easily, if they find better paying jobs.
With this announcement by USCIS, bridegrooms in the U.S. with H1B visa transitioning into Green Cards (under the above rules), have become as widely sought after by brides both from India and in the U.S., because they have become as good as a green card holder, or a U.S. citizen, in terms of assuring permanency of settlement in the U.S., to the brides, until they can receive the green cards in their hands! Keep in mind, most H1B brides do not want to return to India from their well-paying jobs, U.S. citizens are not stepping up to them, so the next best thing available are the boys with H1B transitioning into Green Cards, that can offer them permanency and settlement in the U.S.
Their ability to relocate in matrimony and be able to work legally in the U.S. after matrimony, under the new rules issued by USCIS, makes things a lot more easier to settle down, plan a family, buy a new home and all that, that much easier!
Note: Spouses of those who are on a Straight H1B status (meaning those who are NOT transitioning into a Green Card status under the above rules), are not covered under above two ground Rules, would be ineligible to seek gainful employment in the U.S.
All those seeking matrimony to H1B boys, may verify their exact visa status, within H1B, meaning whether they are on Straight H1B and/or transitioning into a Green Card Status under the above two rules. Caveat Emptor in Latin means, "Let the Purchaser Beware"! So exercise proper due diligence, in your "search and seek process" as you approach H1B status boys in the U.S. in seeking matrimony! Ask for verification for proof of their visa status.
Brides coming to the U.S. getting married to "ineligible" H1B visa holders, under the above rules, whose spouses cannot legally seek gainful employment, can still come to the U.S. in matrimony under a H4 visa status.; however, if you know the situation that you are going to get into and come fully prepared for it, with a pre-requisite such as a GRE, GMAT and TOEFL and other prep tests taken, to pursue higher education, you can enroll yourself in a university to do your Masters or PhD. By virtue of the fact that your husbands are "deemed residents" in most states where they are employed, (because they are paying State taxes), you dont have to pay exorbitant "out of state tuition" for enrolling as a full-time student, with at least 9 credit hours minimum; your college/university will get your H4 visa reclassified into a F1 (Student visa) with USCIS, as do International students on F1 visas, coming from India! "To be forewarned is to be forearmed!" or so goes the saying, so "try to make lemonade out of lemon"! And upon graduation, you will ready to launch yourselves onto an OPT ~ and thence onto a H1B ~ and then there will be plenty of job opportunities for you!
For you the brides from India and other countries with Indian passports, seeking bridegrooms from the U.S., our other advices are:
1) I would still like to caution those seeking matrimony to Green Card holders from the U.S., under the Second Preference category F2A, "Spouses and Unmarried Children of Permanent Residents/Green Card Holders in the U.S." - Priority date for Family sponsored F2A visa category is currently stuck at November 8, 2014, with a Filing Date of October 15, 2015, as per the Department of State June 2016 visa bulletin. Green Card holders getting married after October 15, 2015, cannot even file for their spouses Petition, until after the Filing Date has crossed their wedding date. In my own estimate, it could easily take 4-5 years before the Indian spouses of U.S. Green Card Holders from India and other countries can join them! Unless, of course, the boy is about to become a U.S. Citizen very soon! So use utmost caution in accepting a proposal from a Green Card Holder. Those brides in the U.S., on H1B and OPT can still court Green Card Holders in the U.S., if they have "enough longevity period" in their current visa status to go through the Application filing process and getting approval from USCIS. Check with an Immigration Attorney on your specifics.
2) Do not waste time sending "expressions of interest" to U.S. citizens! on wedding portals from India! It "ain’t" going to happen! Those solicitations are treated as "junk mail" over here in the U.S. ! unless the U.S. citizen boys are coming to India, seeking brides and there may be a specific reason for it! Ask why he is in India seeking a bride? Yet, strangely some U.S. citizens have sought brides from India and have gotten married to one of them! I have also heard many stories where such brides have later "deserted" their husbands, upon arrival in the U.S., after getting their green cards! in favor of the boys they were dating in India!
3) Location, location, location, of where your prospective grooms are situated, is very, very important ~ if you seek some one in Hillsboro, Oregon or Seattle, Washington (where the two largest operations of Intel and Microsoft are located), or wind up in some places like Oak Ridge or Chattanooga, Tennessee, or Boise, Idaho, Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada, or Albuquerque, New Mexico, or El Paso, Texas, or Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota or Cheesecake in Wisconsin, chances of your finding a groom to get married to are very bright! as boys in such remote locations in the U. S. are finding it extremely hard to connect with brides, from within the U.S. to relocate in matrimony!! Yet, a few of those places I mentioned above may not be a bad pick to get married to boys and go to school over there, if you are coming to the U.S. in matrimony, prepared with the option of pursuing higher education in the U.S.
4) Do not consider L1 visa holders, (whose Petitions have not been sponsored for a Green Card by their employers) who are on "inter-company" transfers from a foreign affiliate/subsidiary to the U.S. home office, because if they are re-assigned back to India, when their tenure ends or if their job is terminated, they will have to return to India for good! they cannot seek a change of their visa "status adjustment" on L1 over here, unless they are already transitioning into a GC sponsored by their employer! So is the case with "J1" visa holders who are termed as "exchange visitors" who must return to India or another foreign country for a period of 2 years, before becoming re-eligible to apply for an "entry-visa" to the U.S., unless, of course, they have filed for their GC, under special circumstances, with a GOI "No Objection Certificate, to Return"! ~ Another lengthy and very time consuming process!
5) G4 visa holders in the U.S. working for agencies like World Bank, International Monetary Fund, United Nations and its affiliates like UNESCO, ILO, FAO, working for Indian Embassy and Consulates, are classified as non-immigrant visa holders and cannot apply for adjustment of Status, while working in the U.S., and must return to their foreign country, upon completion/termination of their assignment.
6) Be wary of those who are on short-term project assignments to the U.S. on temporary visas or B1 visas (for 6~9 months) - as they will return to India as soon as their project assignment is completed. I have heard of a case, where a groom from the U.S. on "a project assignment", on a short-term visa, went to India, got married, without a full disclosure to her of the nature of his visa and returned to the U.S. with his spouse under a H4 after the wedding ; neither did the brides parents know much on the technicalities of various kinds of work visas, so they did not make proper inquiries and gave away their daughter to the boy in matrimony, in good faith and trusting the boy! In the following few months, the boys Project work in the U.S. ended abruptly and he was re-assigned back to India -- one day, the boy came home and said to his spouse "let us go back to India, my project assignment is over!" and the girl said "you are going back, I ain t no coming!" and so the marriage terminated there! So, I ask Parents of all the brides to do their proper "due diligence" on H1B s before matrimony! I also ask Parents of H1B bridegrooms to make full disclosure re: your son s visa status, H1B, H1B~GC, H1B visa expiring soon, L1, J1, G4, etc. - so situations like the above are avoided. Withholding or concealment of material information, relevant to a proposed contract being discussed and entered into between two parties, that could have otherwise affected the decision making process by the other party, one way or another, would tantamount to "fraud" under the International Law of Contracts and the courts could strike it down. After all, marriage is a "binding" contract being entered into between two Parties.
7) If your prospective husbands are on a straight H1B, not transitioning into a Green Card Status as explained earlier and their H1Bs are expiring soon or they are approaching the end of their second (final) three-year term of their H1Bs,then chances are, you will return to India, with your husband, very soon, after the marriage ~ when his H1B visa expires! for good! So this is another important aspect you must look into with the prospective H1B grooms that you may be engaging your thoughts of getting married to!
Most leading web portals do not identify in detail, the visa status of the bridegrooms living in the U.S. They simply classify all of them as being on "Work Permit" - and in work permit you have so many kinds, F1, OPT, B1/B2, H1B, H1B-GC, L1, J1, G4 Green Cards and most brides are sending an expression of interest to these boys in the U.S. without knowing their actual visa status, when their terms on those visas are expiring, when they are due to return to India for good and so on - yet, unknowingly, these brides or their Parents, subscribing to these Portals, keep sending them an expression of interest in their profiles, without being aware of full facts on the status of their visas, and whether they are even qualified to marry them and I say to these brides and their Parents: it is like "a blind man, in a dark room looking for the black cat, which is NOT there"! That is what they are doing! www.globalmatriorg, is the only Initiative that is identifying each bridegroom on their visa status and forewarns the brides from connecting with them.
8) Students who have just (recently) completed their PhDs in the U.S., are your best bets, because they are eligible to a "fast track" GC issue, on the strength of their PhDs, if they have clearly demonstrated some proven track record in their fields, and satisfy the six-point criteria established by the Immigration, in approximately 9-12 months or so and they do not need an employer sponsorship for Petitioning their Green Cards; and they get "two for the price one" ~ meaning their spouses too can get the GCs with them, if included with their filing at the time of Petitioning for a GC! And we have many a Ph.Ds all over the U.S. seeking matrimonial opportunities through our Initiative, so there is an "incentive" for you to join the "club"! Many of these Ph.Ds have not filed Petitions for their Green Cards and are waiting to get married before they initiated these steps!
9) Those who are Medical Doctors, with M.B.B.S. Degrees from India, must take their USMLE Tests Part 1, 2 before being eligible to seek Residency in a Hospital in the U.S. Part 3 test can be taken while still in Residency in the U.S. USMLE Tests are ONLY administered in the U.S., now, so you will have to travel before hand to the U.S. on a B1/B2 visa to take these tests, with necessary preparation, qualify at least in Part I and II, before becoming eligible to seek Residency in the U.S. Once you get accepted for a Residency Program, you will have to return to India and re-enter the U.S. with a different and proper visa. Your visa status on which you will re-enter the U.S. will again depend upon which Hospital accepts you for Residency, which will determine the type of visa you get, namely J1 or H1B. If you do not wish to practice Medicine, you can, of course, come to the U.S., and seek admission for other courses like Masters in Public Health, Masters in Hospital Administration, and so on! and still come to the U.S. under a F1 Student Visa. Some M.B.B.S. students are seeking admissions into MPH or MHA Masters, come to the U.S. on a F1, and while over here, they complete the USMLE Steps and seeking an Admission into a Residency Program, with their Masters Degrees from USA. I would not encourage MBBS Brides wanting to come over to the US to do their Residency, to get married, before they are accepted into a Residency program; depending upon, where she gets the Residency admission, it may not be exactly at the same location, where her Husband is situated, (it may be quite far and they cannot live together for 3-4 years), and secondly, if she comes to the U.S. on J1 visa, it places limitations with its transferability. So consider the option of matrimony later.
10) Those who have B.D.S. (Dental degrees from India) seeking to come to the U.S. in matrimony, will still have to seek Dental School Admission and do a full 4-year dental schooling in the U.S. Then they will have to seek and do a Residency Program for a couple of years in the U.S,. before finally becoming eligible to practice Dentistry in the U.S.

Yet both Canada and Australia and NZ seem to be "safe havens" for brides seeking matrimony to migrate to those countries as they are handing out Permanent Resident status to those arriving in matrimony, getting married to a bridegroom with PR Status and/or with a Citizenship in those countries, ready to begin work, upon arrival! There are many prospective bridegrooms in our Initiative seeking matrimony from Canada, Australia and NZ!
